PRESS RELEASE from CONNIE FOGAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 7, 2005

from CANADIAN ACTION PARTY/PARTI ACTION CANADIENNE
CAP/PAC

CONNIE FOGAL, LEADER, COMMENTS

ON THE IMPLICATION OF THE KATRINA DISASTER FOR CANADA

Connie Fogal, Leader, CAP/PAC on September 7,2005 said that it is time
to
face the reality that something is very rotten in the U.S.A.. "That
something" she concluded, "is the administrative forces of power and
control that have destroyed American democracy in the USA stripping the
people of their democratic and constitutional rights and protections.
The
Katrina disaster is proof that all the anti-terrorism hype since 9/11
that
brought in the Patriot Act and Homeland Security has been a smokescreen
to
deliver regime change in the USA from democracy to a police state."

"In the face of the shocking treatment by the U.S.A. apparatus of the
victims of Hurricane Katrina, Canada must face the hypocrisy about
the 9/11 terrorism and end Canada's copying of the US liberty
stripping
process,"Fogal demanded.

"We must revoke our anti-terrorism laws, restore Habeas Corpus,
restore
the right of dissent, ban dictatorial powers, and restore democracy,"
said
Fogal on reading the reports about the disaster.

"The victimization of the poor black Americans caught in Katrina and
then
treated as criminals and refugees is proof that the 9/11 hypocrisy was
a
deception to permit the creation of a police state. There has been no
homeland security for these people."

Fogal was critical of statements of former U.S. secretary of homeland
security Tom Ridge made in April 2005 that Canada and the United States
will inevitably move toward closer economic integration, including a
customs union, in response to the formation of major trading blocks
around
the world, and harmonization of Canada-U.S. security co-operation,
missile
defence, and the U.S. government's treatment of Arab and South Asian
minorities. She strongly rejected his view that the two countries have
little choice but to harmonize.

"The arrogance and presumptions of the likes of Tom Ridge that Canada
is inevitably destined to be subsumed into the US doctrinaire umbrella
must be challenged. The submission to that attitude by Canadian
officials
and government representatives must be extinguished. Our leaders must
muster their courage, their gumption, their loyalty to Canadians,"
implored
Fogal.

She insisted, "We need to widen the border, not erase it. We need to
disassociate ourselves from the regime that could perpetrate such a
horror
on its own people. We must not be caught in such a web! We must not be
facilitators of such a regime. We must be a beacon of hope and
sanctuary to
all those Americans struggling to restore democracy in their own land.
But
first we must clean up our own!"

When and how was "Habeas Corpus" removed in Canada? If Fogal says we have to restore it, it's sitting there in the Charter of Rights. She needs to be more specific, please, as to what she means.
