MAYOR SULLIVAN'S PEOPLE HOODWINK BALL ORGANIZERS

OK so it was a nice gesture that Mayor Sullivan attended the annual Coronation Ball on Saturday night. It was his first time attending since being elected 15 years ago and I'm sure his participation had nothing to do with the fact that he is in a tightly contested nomination battle.

Fair enough.

What has been brought to my attention though is that Mayor Sullivan wasn't invited to speak and the only reason he managed to speak, according to a ball coordinator is that his people fooled the emcee (an out-of-town guest) into believing that prior arrangements had been made for Mayor Sullivan to speak.

This out-of-town emcee who got carried away with the moment even instructed people to get out and vote for Mayor Sullivan. She has since publicly apologized to Vancouver and acknowledged that she received an "earful" from her inappropriate support.

Kudos though to the Lovely Suzanne for recognizing the error of her ways and offering a heart-felt apology to the GLBT community.

Now will the Mayor follow suit and offer an apology to gay Vancouver for having one of his campaign organizers hoodwink the unsuspecting emcee?
