ROBERTSON ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION AFTER PRESSURE BROUGHT
Gregor Robertson, who is running for Mayor of Vancouver finally after pressure was brought, has decided to resign his Vancouver-Fairview MLA seat.
Mr. Robertson at first seemed intent on keeping his MLA seat and as reported here on Oldtown news, keeping his generous MLA salary which would provide him a tax-payer funded paycheck while campaigning to be Mayor.
Mr. Robertson right off the mark should have announced his intention to step down as MLA, however, he didn't and it appeared he was setting himself on a collision course with the public who are not agreeable to these types of matters.
For now Mr. Robertson has saved his skin, however, in future, one would hope that Mr. Robertson might display stronger leadership abilities especially if he wants to be Mayor of this City.

FINALLY. FINALLY. FINALLY. After four whole, entire, long days Gregor has made his decision. How dare he take time to think about his next step.
What we really need is someone who makes decisions without thinking it through.
Oh wait.
That is what the city has had for the last three years with Sullivan.

What was there to think through? And when did Mr. Robertson decide to run for Mayor? I don't think it was a mere 4 days ago!
Yes I supported Sam Sullivan over Jim Green as I prefer our Mayors to be Canadians.

Funny how someone who rails against those who marginalize other people would not support someone just because they are not born in Canada.
It was the intense, unrelenting pressure from your blog that made Gregor decide. He just couldn't handle it.
Any thoughts on who should replace Robertson in Fairview?
The Canadian constitution allows me to exercise my political beliefs and saying I'm being racist as a result is actuually stupid.
I never said it was the pressure from my blog.
I said after pressure was brought. In fact, this pressure came from many media including ones supportive of Mr. Robertson and many of his own supporters.
Mr. Robertson made a mistake and only took the steps he did after realizing his decision was going to cost him. It was already a given that the public would get stiffed.

Regarding who should replace Mr Robertson I think that decision should be left up to the citizens of Vancouver-Fairview.
Interesting names though I suppose will come forward.
I think Sam Sullivan should replace Robertson as MLA for Fairview.
No maybe not.
Maybe one of the Olympic mascots... they'd make great politicians - waving their hands all the time, looking stunned and saying absolutely nothing.
