STILL NO VISION WINNER at 8 PM
It is now 8 pm--three hours after the polls closed at the Vision nomination convention and as yet--no announced winner.
Frances Bula had projected on her blog that results would come in around 6:45 ish and here it is 75 minutes later and still no results.
During the wait, I spoke with former COPE Councillor, Tim Louis, who is at home with partner Dr Penny Parry eagerly awaiting results. Mr. Louis figures Mr. Robertson will win on the first ballot because of his huge machine.
I'm still sticking with a Louie win and if he loses badly, I will look like a fool but such is life.
Although Mr. Robertson has had a large machine and his campaign has compared itself to Senator Barack Obama, I'm not convinced though that his supporters, if he does win, can sustain their campaign against the more experienced Councillor Peter Ladner.
With the vote count now entering into the 4th hour, chances are there has been many challenges to Councillor Louie votes, especially if Mr. Louie is within striking distance of Mr. Robertson.
Most pundits believe MLA Gregor Robertson to be leading on the first vote and whether he captured enough second place votes from Commissioner Allan De Genova who many predict will be trailing in third place is anyone's guess.
Mr. Robertson though could fool us all and win as former Councillor Louis predicts with 50% plus one on the first ballot.
Mr. Louis could be correct, however, if this is the case one would assume that the count would have been relatively easy.
Stay tuned for the eventual winner.
