QUEEN of the PARKS UPDATES

The Vancouver municipal campaign is now into its final 13 days and this time will be hectic yet exciting for candidates.

My Queen of the Parks campaign has been campaigning hard and because there is lack of media attention on Independents or invites from organizers of all-candidate meetings, our campaign has hosted our own campaign events either co-hosting with other candidates or putting on our own. This has been lots of fun as campaigns should be.

I thank each and every supporter of mine for their continued support. I also wish to thank other candidates who put aside partisan beliefs and are willing to work together in a collaborative way which benefits the greater public good.

I had a busy weekend and attended a number of events. I went to the ABC event on Wednesday at district 319. I really enjoyed myself with Councillors Anton, Ball and Capri who were gracious hosts.

On Friday, my campaign had its own HalloQueen event at the Roedde House Museum. We played out the famous Janet Smith murder mystery and attendees went all out with their costumes. Thank You to everyone who attended this event or volunteered.

On Saturday, I was at the Pride annual general meeting and over a six hour period we conducted society business. I am finished with my responsibilities for this year and I congratulate the new board members.

On Saturday night I was invited to attend the Elbow Room Halloween party and I had a fun time. Thanks Patrick and Bryan for throwing a lovely decadent party.

Today I will be attending the Roundhouse Community Centre Association all-candidate meeting. This starts at 2pm.

On November 4, I am presenting a lecture at Capilano University from 1-3pm

On Friday, Nov 7, my Queen of the Parks campaign co-hosts with Councillor Elizabeth Ball the UNITY for the ARTS dinner, dance, silent auction and floor show at Kentizen in Tinseltown mall. Tickets are $30 and includes a 60 course Chinese and Japanese buffet.

On Sunday, November 9 at the Billy Bishop Legion in Kitsilano, I have co-organized with Lea Johnson, an all-candidate forum called the Value of Independents and Small Parties in Canadian Democracy. Our media panel includes Charlie Smith, Sandra Thomas and Reed Eurchuk. Start time 2pm. The forum is moderated by Kevin McKeown.

I also have a campaign jingle which was composed for my queen of the Parks campaign by DTES artist Mr Robert Scharf. Please visit http://www.queenoftheparks.com to hear this catchy jingle. Thanks Bob!
