COUNCILOR STEVENSON RESPONDS TO GAY PARADE

Hi All!

COUNCILOR TIM STEVENSON RESPONDS TO PARADE ROUTE CONCERN

Hi All!

Listed below is an email from Councilor Tim Stevenson to a constituent. Of course I added my thoughts. See the post from Tim Stevenson to Rick Forde.

Mr Stevenson obviously doesn't get this. Why he would say that city staff are listening only to a small group of people when this involves at least 500,000 people. It involves a community and due process and Mr Stevenson should know better to articulate that this is a fair process. Obviously, the PRIDE society hasn't consulted the people and this is the problem - jamie lee.

Dear Mr. Forde,

It would be important for you to be in contact directly with the Pride Society. They are an elected board and have told the City staff they wish permits to hold a Parade in Yaletown rather than the Westend this July. If the community is not in favour of this route they must let the Pride Society know they don't want the change. The City Staff are only responding to a duly elected board as they have every year before. This is scheduled to come before Council on March 31st.

Sincerely,

Tim Stevenson
