CENSORSHIP OF THE BLOGGERS

CENSORSHIP OF THE BLOGGERS

Over at Frances Bula's blog State of Vancouver, she recently re-printed a piece that Wendy Pedersen, a staff person at Carnegie Centre penned regarding support for the Downtown Eastside drug trade. Many active in the DTES community claim Ms Pedersen to be a Povertarian.

Word comes that local 24 Hours commentator/blogger Alex Tsakumis posted two responses in the comments section of State of Vancouver regarding this re-printed piece. One comment was allowed and the other two have been re-moved.

Apparently Mr. Tsakumis alleged and named certain people "poverty pimps" (not sure if I would use that term since Povertarian is more subtle), however, Mr Tsakumis is known for his colourful language. A source confirms that Mr Tsakumis left another comment on Ms Bula's blog asking what happened to his comment and suddenly, I've been informed that this comment has now also mysteriously vanished.

If the above is true, one wonders why Fabula as she is known by her fans is censoring the news?

Sources inform that Mr Tsakumis is a fabula fan but one wonders why two of his posts have disappeared? Surely this can't make Mr Tsakumis very happy.

Perhaps someone can shed some light on this issue. I welcome comments on this.

Of course it could be that Ms Bula only wants to present one viewpoint of the Downtown Eastside and of course that viewpoint is one propagated by Carnegie Centre.

Interesting to note that the staff who authored the piece which Ms Bula re-printed is a protege of a now retired colleague of Ms Bula's when they both worked at the Sun. This former colleague continues to be a prime mover and shaker at Carnegie Centre.

Surely Ms Bula wouldn't compromise her journalistic integrity to satisfy her Carnegie friends ideology or would she?

It seems awfully odd though that certain unfavourable comments toward the Carnegie ideology on State of Vancouver have mysteriously disappeared.

Hm.

Update on this story. It now appears that the 24 Hours blogger has been allowed another comment on the Bula site and apparently the blogger has redeemed himself by now using the word Povertarian which Ms Bula obviously deems more appropriate. Wow Ms Bula sure whipped him into shape fast. No balls I guess.

Clearly you are also into censorship. You did not publish my last comment on the Marlene Desjarlais post. You know most bloggers (those who are not control freaks) approve only the first comment to make sure that the person is not a spammer and then let people post. You must have control issues.

Why won't you answer my questions from the other post?

No control issues at all. The comments section must be moderated otherwise spammers post repeatedly.

Also I don't want this blog to be used for personal vendettas and neither do my readers want to see this.

If you want a response from me on something my email is attached directly to the post and you can send an email which I could then direct a response back to you.

Frances bula is so full of shit. She obviously does not research her stories. Her facts are often hearsay gossip. she only gets to pimp out ink because shes been around for so long that she smells like dinosar shit. the sooner we see her go , the better for our city for geting out the truth . we're sick an tired of bula.

Sometimes reporters get very lazy and in turn churn out really bad pieces. Frances Bula supports the status quo in the DTES and her writing reflects this. It is really too bad that she wants to be liked by those in poweer that she forgets to present accurate info.
