RESPONSE to MEDIA REGARDING my HERITAGE

Thank You to Frances Bula of the Sun for raising the issue of my heritage at my press announcement the other day. It provides me an opportunity to provide details of my heritage.

Just so everyone knows, I am a First Nations Citizen. My grandmother Mary Agnes St Mark's was born on the Flathead reserve in Montana although her siblings are members of the Rocky Boy reservation in Montana.

My late mother Alice is the child of Frank Bastien who is a member of the Blood Reserve in Alberta. My mother was raised by her step-father Kenneth George McMillan who is of Scottish ancestry and he rests in the Field of Honour Plot in Burnaby.

My sister Gail is married to a member of the Squamish Nation.

As a two-spirited individual with an Irish english father, I have chosen not to seek band rights. However I am a Citizen of a Sovereign Nation which is of course the First Nation which of course is part of Canada.

Like I said earlier, Frances don't know shit. In fact, I am suspecting that she and her ilke are posting stuff under "anonymous" on this blog.

I can talk about my ancestors too. I think they orignated somewhere on this spaceship called earth, and I am a result of many generations of breeding...

I don't live in the city any more but the subject of this person came up last evening as I was talking with a family memebr who lives there. His comment seemed to apply pretty well. What a wing nut.
It is safe to say you can mark that voter down as not undecided but a Jim Green supporter.

Jamie-

I've got to agree with Sam Sullivan's comments in the Courier rag today (Sunday Oct .9, 2005) ... that we need independent minds like yourself to bring fresh ideas to the Hall.

Not everyone will agree with your's (or other's) views...but that is what makes us all humans. But it is this very quality of independant thinking that makes our City such a diverse place (and I don't mean any of that ethnic bullshit).

So I got a question for Bula - "when the hell has anyone's 'heritage' got to do with one's abilities?" Sounds pretty friggen racist to me. Bula, get a real job...like laying down with your ass up in the air so I can park my bike on it.

David again Thank You. I to agree with Sam Sullivan. I believe independent critical thinkers move our agendas forward. I am certainly an anti-establishment candidate and will bring forward important policy issues which many establishment candidates will shy away from. It is my role to keep chipping away at these bread and butter issues. As such my Queen of Hearts campaign will have succeeded

Cheers
