MAYENCOURT WINS

Congratulations to the victor of the Vancouver-Burrard nomination race. Mr Lorne Mayencourt did everything he needed to do and won the race in a squeaker topping the Rev Tim Stevenson by 18 votes.

As a political strategist, I maintained early on and throughout the election that Mr Mayencourt would win. I think his win and as I pointed out in my blog right after the election was a direct result of Mayor Campbell and Councillor Jim Green wading in and calling Mr Mayencourt derogatory names.

For the record, I am happy to say Mr Mayencourt is NOT a menace to society and I have continually defended Lorne Mayencourt in this regard. Please don't let me down Lorne!

Mr Mayencourt you will need to keep on top of the Vancouver Agreement mess. I want you to get right to work and fix it. I think you also need to recognize while you may feel many prominent members of the gay community abandoned you, many individuals haven't. Many seniors in the Downtown Eastside do not see you as a indifferent and unfeeling individual. I know I don't either.

Perhaps, Mr Mayencourt you can take me out to lunch and I'll be more than happy to share my views and wisdom with you regarding the mess that my neighborhood is in. Remember please that parts of my neighborhood also share parts of yours.

Hold your head high Lorne and in regard to Mayor Campbell, remember there's more than one way to spell his name.

Good luck in continuing to advocate for Vancouver-Burrard and Vancouver's poorer citizens.
