DAVID EBY YOU ARE REALLY TICKING ME OFF

Posted below in Bold is Mr. Eby's incorrect spellings of my high school

Mr. David Eby obviously really doesn't take the time to get his facts straight on my neighborhood and it is really ticking me off.

Mr. Eby talks about Britannia High School which this blogwriter attended and he spells the name Britannia incorrectly on his blog as Brittania three times.

Mr. Eby if you plan on advocating for my hood, please get facts about my neighborhood straight and if you need a history lesson, hire me.

"Fortunately, the Commercial Drive crowd doesn't agree, and has aggressively lobbied the Brittania Board to just say no to VANOC's money and headaches, as well as the loss of their community centre for two to five weeks. On Wednesday the Brittania Board meets to vote on whether or not to take the VANOC money at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public, and the Torch, an anti-Olympic group centred on the Drive, is encouraging people to come out.Compounding all of the interest is the fact that the Brittania AGM takes place at the end of May. Rest assured that the Board members have one eye on their board positions, and one eye on the VANOC proposal as they weigh their options. Oh politics!"

DAVID EBY NEEDS to LEARN DTES GEOGRAPHY

OK Pivot lawyer David Eby is a nice guy and certainly has made a name for himself in the Oldtown/DTES area. Unfortunately for Mr. Eby he needs to do some work regarding geography of the DTES neighborhood. Mr. Eby on his blog talks about a hotel for sale at Union and Dunsmuir streets.

Um Mr. Eby but Dunsmuir and Union do not meet. Union starts at Main Street and Dunsmuir starts over the Viaduct. Below is part of the post where Mr. Eby really got his geography muddled.

The second is a low-cost rental building called the Low Young Court building at the corner of Dunsmuir and Union Streets, with a street address of 410 Union. That 14 unit low-income rental building is for sale for $1.4m as well. It is also a protected Single Room Accommodation building.

MAYOR SULLIVAN BRINGS PARTISAN POLITICS to ANTI-HOMOPHOBIA DAY

MAYOR SULLIVAN BRINGS PARTISAN POLITICS to ANTI-HOMOPHOBIA DAY

On Tuesday, May 13, 2008, Mayor Sam Sullivan will be making an official anti-homophobia day Mayoral proclamation in Council chambers at 2pm.

The Mayor should be commended for his leadership on this front, however, he is marring the day with a private event being held in the Mayor's office for selected invitees only. This event is prior to the reading of the proclamation.

Mayor Sullivan had one of his prominent supporters review the list as a number of notable and prominent names were excluded from the invite list.

Jamie Lee Hamilton, a longtime GLBT community activist and a past honoree of the Community Hero award states," it is truly a sad day for Vancouver citizens when the Mayor decides to play segregationist politics. Bringing partisan politics into what should be a partisan free day is clearly wrong and this demonstrates why Mayor Sam Sullivan is not suited for the job of Vancouver Mayor".

"The appropriate way of handling these types of matters is to read out the Mayoral proclamation than invite guests into the council chamber foyer for a short reception where celebrants and Councillors can mix", claims Ms Hamilton.

Anti-homophobia day is about inclusion and it is deeply concerning that the Mayor chose instead to practice exclusion.
