SOME TIME OFF
SOME TIME OFF
I'm not going to be blogging over the weekend as I decided to take some time off and do some fun things.
Tomorrow, I'm off to get some highlights done at David Blue Design and then I'll be at the Vancouver gay leather bar, the Pumpjack Pub, keeping a keen eye on Councillor Peter Ladner as he and his entourage flog memberships.
On Saturday evening, I'm hosting a Green Speakeasy for Quadra MP candidate, Dan Grice. The speakeasy is at the Elks Hall - 2177 West 42nd Avenue. Starts at 7 pm with a cabaret show at 8:30 pm. Dan is a sweetheart and he worked hard on my Independent council run in 2005. I'm a strong supporter of young people entering the political arena and its my way of thanking Dan. Tickets are $20.00 and available at the door. Cash bar and light finger food.
On Monday, March 3, 2008, kick-off to International Women's Week, happens at the Majestic Lounge - 1138 Davie Street, I'm co-hosting with Dr. Penny Parry, a political forum called Increasing Diverse Communities in Politics. We have a great number of political and community Leaders lined up to speak, including Councillor Peter Ladner, Park Commissioner, Heather Holden, Little Sisters co-owner, Jim Deva, former Park board Chair, Laura McDiarmid, former City Councillor, Tim Louis, Green Youth Leader, Kristina Kearley, community activists, Michelle Mollineaux, Colleen Hardwick and Betty Chan. This is a free event and starts at 7 pm. The Majestic is fully licenced and is located at 1138 Davie Street (the former Fresgo inn location).
On Tuesday, March 4, 2008 I'm guest lecturing in Women's Studies at UBC. I'm there from 8:30 am-11:30am with Dr. Becki Ross.
I'll be back to blogging on Wednesday with a feature on Missing and Murdered Women post Pickton arrest.
I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather and remember folks spring is right around the corner. Enjoy your weekend!
PS I'll also let you know how Peter Ladner survived the Pumpjack!
